A Few Firsts Happening Here

We are trying to find our groove around here for outings outside of the house.  This has been pretty easy to plan because he is still so young and typically will sleep for two hours after his feedings.

Our first big outing was to Jason's Deli to celebrate Andrew's 2nd week on earth and to cure Mom of an intense case of cabin fever.  Once I fed him, we hurried to the restaurant where I am happy to report he stayed asleep until we arrived back at the house.

We also headed to church for the first time this past weekend.  This has been our biggest adventure of all by far.  I thought I had planned it out just right but was I ever so wrong.  The plan was for me to wake up early enough that I could get a shower and dry my hair before Andrew's next scheduled feeding.  Unfortunately when I got out of the shower, Andrew was screaming in his crib.  I wrapped my hair in a towel and quickly started to feed him.  This day, he decided that he would take his time eating so by the time we finished I had 5 minutes to spare before we had to walk out the door.  Thankfully my hair curled up after sitting in a towel for almost an hour and I still had my traveling make up bag packed from the hospital so both were quickly done in the car.

One word to describe my look: frazzled.

A funny story that happened while at church.  Andrew is a big tooter when he eats, after he eats and before he eats.  Basically this boy toots like no ones business.  The boy has very manly, very loud toots.  One of his feedings fell in the middle of church so I was fully prepared with bottle in hand to sit on the back row and feed our boy.  During his feeding our pastor gets up to pray and begin his sermon.  My son thought this would be a good time to let em rip.  Not just one or two but possibly close to a dozen, very loud, very manly toots came a flying.  His Nannie and Poppy, who were sitting two rows in front of us heard their precious grandson tooting up a storm.  I was trying not to laugh out loud but had silent laughter tears rolling down my cheeks.  Neither Jeff nor I could look at each other because the silent laughter would have become full on belly laugh. Imagine, his first Sunday at church and he is already acting up during the prayer.  Sadly all those toots were the result of a very loaded diaper being made so a quick exit was made to remedy the situation.  I am very happy we chose to sit on the back row and not our usual 3 rows from the front.

Here is a quick video of a new trick Andrew discovered tonight.  Someone needs to tell this boy that he is only three weeks old and shouldn't be able to do the things he is already doing.

I HAVE NO VOICE!

Normally I would be just fine with not having a voice for a few days BUT, well, you see, I have Cousin Brandy's wedding this weekend and I got how should I put it lighlty...scammed...no...conned....no....asked really nicely...yeah that sounds right... I got asked nicely to help coordinate the big day.

Which means, I tell the sweet bride and groom pictured above along with their guests, wedding party and Jose at the bar to do go here and here and do this and this all day long. Just call me J-Lo from the movie "The Wedding Planner" I plan to wear a fanny pack strapped to my hip and have a headphone so that I can talk to...well, me, since no else will be on the other end. But I want to look professional so this is how you do it according to Hollywood.

Seriously though, I can't wait to see Brandy and Tim get hitched. We have a joke that we are all going to have babies together one day so our children can grow up together since everyone else's kids (except for Baby Brooke) are 5 and up. But in order to have babies, you need to be married! Or at least that is how I was raised to believe. Some call it "Old School thinking "-I call it "Living with morals!"

Speaking of Babies...

Right before the below picture was taken Elijah SMACKED his sister on the head, turns to me and I catch him smiling this goofy grin. His parents are always telling him to be sweet to his big sisters but sometimes he takes after his daddy in that department (Daddy=my older brother) and whacks them when the parents are not looking. But I am just the aunt I just there to take pictures and dote on them...they can pay me back for it later when my kids come down from Heaven. Look at poor Katy-she is thinking, "Did you see that?!?"

Oh and by the way, my mother signed up to reside in blogland as well. Go check out her blog too. You will find she has the Holy Starbucks cup in her hand and I tell you she is OBSESSED with this thing! The whole way home from Paris last weekend-we heard:

"There's a Starbucks." "I want Starbucks, do you?"

"Do you think this town has a Starbucks? No, don't see one there."

"Doesn't Starbucks sound good right now?"

Finally Sam told her he would stop at the Starbucks by his house which was an hour away at this point. I swear Mom, you are OBSESSED with STARBUCKS!

Okay that is it for a few days as I will be doing the Wedding thing this weekend. It should be fun but tonight I got all giddy when I realized that after this weekend we our calendars are free, free, free! Jeff and I need some down time together, alone, if you know what I mean or know me well enough to READ_BETWEEN_THE LINE!

LOL!

Proof: Elijah Likes Sidewalk Chalk

I left Jeff in charge of watching the kids as they hung out on our patio and drew us pictures. This is a common activity at Uncle Jeff's and Aunt Sue Sue's-but it's the first time that Elijah participated. I walked in for just a few minutes and came back to Jeff drawing a tribal face on our nephew. Plus the walls were covered with "pictures" by Elijah. In a few hours we would be gathering to do our stocking exchange with my mom, Sam and Gunnar's crew-so I knew I would need to clean him up before hand. But Jeff says "Oh let him get dirty-that's what boys do." So I went back to cooking and let Jeff and the kids to their sidewalk art. Great thing about chalk... it comes off with a pat of the hand or a baby wipe. Missy, I bet you didn't realize your son was this dirty-did you?
