Songs I Cling To

Do you ever hear a song or two that strikes a cord or two with your present situation?

I have a few that I have dubbed as Songs To Cling To, these songs now hold there very own play list on my IPOD called Songs to Cling To and a copy of a CD has been made to keep in my car. These songs bless me, fill me and lead me back to focus on Jesus in the present moment.

It's easy for me to get frustrated because certain things are not happening but I refuse to let Satan get a foothold in my home, car and heart.

Here are a few lines from the songs that have spoken to me lately:

Ginny Owens, "If You Want Me To"

"And I don't know the reason why You brought me here But just because You love me the way that You do I'm gonna walk through the valley If You want me to....But You never said it would be easy You only said I'd never go alone "

Mercy Me, "Bring the Rain"

People asking me how I can praise You with all that I've gone through. The question just amazes me, can circumstances possibly change who I forever am in You....Bring me joy, bring me peace Bring the chance to be free, bring me anything that brings You glory. And I know there'll be days, when this life brings me pain, but if that's what it takes to praise You Jesus, bring the rain

Steven Curtis Chapman, "The Miracle of the Moment"

It’s time for letting go, all of our if only’s, ‘Cause we don’t have a time machine. And even if we did, would we really want to use it? Would we really want to go change everything? ‘Cause we are who and where and what we are for now And this is the only moment we can do anything about

So breathe it in and breathe it out, listen to your heartbeat . There’s a wonder in the here and now, it’s right there in front of you. And I don’t want you to miss the miracle of the moment.

And if it brings you tears, then taste them as they fall. And let them soften your heart and if it brings you laughter, then throw your head back
And let it go, let it go

And to the friend, who gave me wonderful advice this past week, thank you. You know who you are, you know what you said, but what you don't know is that God used that time to touch me in a mighty way. Bless you friend.

And to all my other friends who read this and start to worry. Don't worry I am good, just wanted to share these songs with you. But you can always pray for me because who doesn't need prayers, right?!?

This Chick Is Tired

After a long weekend, I am exhausted.

I had plans tonight but couldn't pull myself off the couch in time to be there.

I bailed, for those I bailed on, please forgive.

Today I am reading, resting and lounging in my pj's.

I will be back when I am not so tired.

Doesn't it feel good to know you can rest without feeling guilty?

Things I Am Looking Foward To This Summer

Andrea inspired me today but I will not join on the public TT13 because the last time I did this I received hate mail. No one we know, some freak of the week in blog land, but that took just sucked the joy right out of it for me. So familiar, non hate mail people in blog land, if Andrea and I inspire you to write your own then please leave a comment so we can all play together.

  1. Matinee Movies on Sunday with my sweetie, new releases for 2 people only $8, SCORE!
  2. The 50th Reunion at Camp Deer Run- catching up with old friends, seeing new friends (the babies)
  3. New Cousins coming to earth, we have 4 coming between June and September, not to mention the other people in my life having babies in the Fall and Winter. I need to buy stock in baby gifts.
  4. Scrapbook Retreat-a wonderful time of fellowship, cropping and relaxing
  5. Hayley goes to Deer Run! She and I have already started to count down to the first day of camp. I can't wait to visit her on Sunday, send her letters in the mail and a big ole care package to enjoy when she gets back from out camping
  6. Summer Reading-nothing says summer like reading a good book with a ice cold beverage in hand.
  7. Faith turns 9! OMG! 9 people! NINE!!!!
  8. Faith will also be going to camp but sadly not Deer Run and not as close so I will have to do an extra special care package for that sweet thing. (Missy, don't let me forget to get the address from you!)
  9. Just hanging out-there is something about the summer months where everything just slows down a bit. I am looking forward to running at a much slower pace.
  10. Jeff's birthday. He, unlike me, insists that his birthday be very low key. I don't mind that one bit since that is what makes him happy. One thing is for sure, his birthday is always an adventure.
  11. Floating the River, swimming in the pool, playing in the sprinkler with the kids.
  12. Flip-Flops-all day, everyday
  13. Last but not least, a week at Disney World!

When I Feel Blah

Do you ever just wake up and think, "Here we go again!"

Sometimes the montony of life can wear me down and I find myself not feeling as jolly as I should.

I was looking out the window this morning giving myself a pep talk uttering things like, "This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice in be glad in it, dad gum it!" But I just haven't felt the rejoice part kick in even after my 2nd cup of coffee. Friends I was feeling blah!

I started to blog it out, erased a line, started fresh (because who wants to sound like a bah hum bug really) and decided I should make a list.

Over the years, I have realized when I feel blah there is something in my life that I am not dealing with, something that needs to be resolved. It could be as simple as an errand that needs to be run, a bill to pay, a phone call to make or I just need to take a shower and put a little pep on my face.

Isn't it funny how getting dressed with hair fixed and make up can make you feel better? I swear it works.

So when I start to feel blah, instead of sitting around moping I follow this little rule of thumb.

1) pray about it (and I confess, sometimes this is the last thing I do)
2) make a to do list of all the things that I am putting off that are starting to weigh me down.
3) open up the blinds, raise a few windows if the weather is right, and turn on my favorite praise and worship music. Something about the combination of praise music and sunlight always lifts my spirits.
4) I take a shower, slap on some make up and comb my hair. Getting dressed adds an extra measure of umph to my day-call me vain but it does help.
5) I take 15 minutes to straigten up the crap laying around my house. Sometimes all the papers, dirty clothes and excess clutter laying around brings me down. I have learned that if I motivate myself to clean for 15 minutes that usually does the trick. And do you realize how much you can get done in 15 minutes?

And usually, this does it for me. I find that I am not so ho-hum any more and have the pep back in my step. So what do you do when you feel blah?

"Work It Girl! Work It!"

We were hanging at the Art Festival and the story goes a little something like this...

Meredith: Let's go to the front of the stage and dance.
Susan: Okay! (Everyone should know that I LOVE! TO! DANCE!)

Meredith heads with gusto as I stand in the back with Jeff and Matt...I couldn't get past a crowd.

And Meredith is dancing (her family is friends with the drummer-can't remember the band it's not a significant part of the story I am telling you.) She would have gone closer if it wasn't for the two up at the front of the stage...I guarantee it! See the man in the cowboy hat. He and his friends were the family that I couldn't get around. He and I were standing on the curb talking and he was shaking his hips and talking about how cute Meredith was dancing out there by her lonesome. At this point he starts to yell, "Work it Girl! Work It!" And I when I say yell, I mean yell...LOUDLY ! I would have been nervous but I had Jeff in the back with his rough and tough t-shirt so I wasn't scared!
As you can tell from Meredith's face, she wasn't too sure about her new dancing buddies.
And she says, "Uh, hello don't leave me alone!"
Jeff pushes me out there by telling me I am the fearless one, get my butt out there and dance with Meredith.
Our new friend, the dancing queen, says "Oooo-h girl! Have you come to work it too!?!?"

We start to dance but had to take a break to check out his pointed steel boots with black and white tiger stripes. I even asked him where he buys his clothes because he was styling! And his reply, "I know how to work it girl! Work It!" Yes, Dancing Queen you do! But he never told me where he shops! I was looking to hook Jeff up with a few things.
And then I proceeded to show them a few of my zumba moves. I told Meredith that the best thing about zumba workouts is that you learn a few moves to stay hip. And then he proceeded to tell me that I dance like I have soul. Can I just tell you that was the best compliment ever for this white girl! Now click on the next two pictures so you can get the full flavor of his outfit. Too bad, Matt cut off his feet-that is where the true flavor be...

And there you have it the Miss Adventures of Mere and Sue Sue...yes I know, we are crazy!

The Weekend (4-19-08)

My weekend started with the opening of the NRH library. As you know, I am a huge library fan and the opening of this library has been on my calendar for many weeks now. Jeff just couldn't grasp that I actually wanted to attend the opening. And I kept telling him that nothing he said would talk me out of not going. I was being true to me today and went to the opening, by myself.

I had my camera with me, taking pictures of the library for my own blogging/scrap booking purposes when a lady from the city asked me to follow her. Turns out, she thought I was the official photographer and asked me to take a few pictures of Polly, the charter member of the library who is so special she has her own room in the library with her own plaque. I went along with the city lady and took all the pictures that she asked me to take. Later, I pulled the lady aside and explained to her that even though I love to take pictures, I am not the real photographer from the city. We had a great laugh and she said, "Well aren't you a doll for allowing me to boss you around." I told her I would have stopped her but since it was so crazy and rush, rush, rush that I should just snap away and explain myself later. Thankfully the pictures have already been sent to the correct person and I have been told if they are published they will send me a check in the mail. I don't care if I ever get paid, I just thought it was funny they thought I was a real deal photographer. That was the first adventure.

Later that day, Jeff and I headed to Downtown Fort Worth via the train. Sister in Law, Meredith's mother lives in Downtown and had invited us to spend the day with her. Jeff and I enjoyed walking around Main Street, laughing at some of the artsy people in the area and enjoying some of the exhibits. Sadly, it was too crowded for us to look at leisure. But it didn't stop us from having a good time.

The view from the train.

Jeff and me, cooling off under the trees while listening to the music.
Meredith and the hostess with the most-est, Lynn. Jeff and I call her MI2, (Mother In Law-2, since she has adopted us as her children!)

A close up of Jeff's shirt. This is what happens when you allow hubby to shop for his own clothes. It made me laugh and on the way back home, the drunks on the train kept saying "DUDE! That is the greatest shirt EVER!" And man, if you ride the train and bring the kids, then make sure you don't take the 10:30 p.m train...that is when all the freaks from around town come out of the woodwork. It was funny for us, since we have no kids but I was so glad that we didn't bring the nieces and nephew with us.

Tomorrow I will post about Meredith and my dancing partner from Saturday night. This guy deserves a post of his very own.

Tonight I Drank A Cherry Coke

And you would too, if you were sitting underneath the NE Mall food court waiting out a tornado.

Let's rewind shall we...

Jeff and I went walking earlier in the day and I mentioned something to him about how it looked like it was going to rain. He responded by telling me that I need to be alert tonight in case the storm turns severe. Sure, no problem, I wasn't scared. I grew up in Texas, you learn to stay on your feet and you learn at a young age not to freak out.

And do you remember this from this time last year? Well, who wants to relive that drama?!?!

Here is the bullet points from my adventure:

-Jeff calls tells me to head to the mall. What? Giddily I ask, "The mall?!?!"
"Yes, the mall. Park in the parking garage and walk the mall for a few hours, see a movie whatever it takes to pass the time." And I am thinking, "Wow I just won the lottery!"

Hmm quality time at the mall. WHO IN THERE RIGHT MIND WOULD PASS UP THIS GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY! I felt like I was 13 again being released from the my jail, I mean, home.
I head off to the mall, without my cell phone but my latest novel in hand, just in case I had to sit for a bit.

I start to shop because I would be S-T-U-P-I-D to pass up an opportunity like this.

I was buying some much needed make up when the trusty security guard comes in screaming for everyone to get down to the corridor, and I quote, "A storms a comin! A storms a comin!"

"Corridor? What the heck is a corridor!" I say to myself. Sweet shop lady explains to me that is the basement under the food court. And I think to myself, "Sweet an adventure is coming!"

So I head to the CORRIDOR, like a single cow in a big ole herd heading to the slaughter house.

-And if you have ever been to NE Mall, then you know that I have to pass a Sonic to get down the stairs.

And if you were heading to God only knows what, you too would break the vow of no soda.

The Route 44 was good to me, while I read my book, people gazed and caught up with a fellow RHS grads. Yes, you read that right. Only yours truly would find a tornado coming through as an opportunity to socialize.
It sounded scary for a bit but I had read in my quiet time that morning about Jesus calming a storm so I knew when the time was right, Jesus would calm the storm. I ain't scared. I kept reading, sipping my super sugary Cherry Coke and saying hello to a few old friends.
Sadly, Jeff may rethink the evacuation plan when he realizes I bought a new pair of jeans after the drama had passed. I justified it by telling myself I was a TORNADO SURVIVOR!!

The reality is that it really wasn't a tornado but very, very high winds. I choose to exaggerate because a tornado sounds so much better and justifies buying these. They were on sale after all.

And I just survived a tornado!!!

The Brain

If you have been a reader of the blog for any length of time, you may have realized that I love to organize. A friend and I were recently talking about all things organizing and while we were talking, she started to laugh. "What! Do I have something on my face?!" "No!, you big dork! But you sure are animated right now talking about this." I think the topic was post it notes and something about how good they smell. I know, call me crazy.

The reason I love to be organized is because it helps keep this otherwise chaotic personality with a mild case of A.D.D stream lined and at peace. Which brings me to my latest organizing project.

The other day I was cleaning my kitchen and realized that we had lots of papers laying around with no home. As I started to sort through them I realized that I would need to find a safe place because these are papers that I always refer back to. You know how it is, the latest invitation, take out menus, phone numbers for people at church, new recipes I would like to try, etc.

Flylady encourages keeping a control journal for stuff like this. Simplify 101 sells a command central binder. And really both of these websites are great assets for those of you looking for a place to start to organize your family. I think the world of both of these ladies but I wanted something that tailored to Jeff and my needs, since for now it is just the two of us.

Last night I was reading yet another one of my favorite organizing blogs and came across this post. Needless to say, I was inspired. And took her idea and ran with it.
Instead of a file box, I used one of the many 3-ring binders that I have laying around. (That's not a joke, I have a stash of binders literally just hanging around). The reason for the binder is because it is not a bulky as the file box and helps saves space in my pint-size kitchen. I then took a few of my favorite dividers in all the world. (I also keep these hanging around.) And the reason I chose these dividers is because they are durable and have pockets on either side.

My tabs were as follows: bills to pay, upcoming events, church directory, grocery list, gift ideas, recipes to try.

One of the suggestions that the organizing lady had was to make a file for each of the family members. If you have multiple kids, I think this is a great idea. This way you can keep the notes from teachers, school activities to sign off on, sports schedules all in one place.

The only problem that I see with this binder system is to stay on top of keeping it current and not keep as a catch all. I already know that Jeff will be my biggest challenge in getting on board because, well, let's just say, he is not as passionate as I tend to be in the clearing the paper clutter department.

Oh and one quick side note: A friend of mine(the friend that I often talk about on the blog but likes to remain nameless) has 3 magnetic file boxes (1 for each kid) on the side of her fridge. Each of the kids have their name on them and they know to put all paperwork that mom and dad will need to sign off on there. She also has, above these boxes a magnetic calendar so she can stay on top of all the family activities. I am pretty sure that this works for her, right Ali-son!!! (oops, said your name!) And trust me, she is always going, going, going!

Hopefully these ideas will help you! If you get on board with any of these tips then please let me know. I am curious to see if they work for people with more than 2 people present. Hee! Hee!

A Jeff Story

I normally do not turn on the lights until the sun goes down. I really don't see the point when our apartment has such great natural light.

Friday night, Jeff and I decided to stay home since I had been running a fever off and on all day. I was laid up on the couch watching a movie. It had gotten dark and so I heard Jeff start to pull blinds and I what thought was the sound of lights being turned on but I never saw the light. I got up to go grab something, when I see Jeff in the reflection our dresser mirror walking around stealth like in the dark.

"Jeff what are you doing?" I asked while starting to laugh.

And he replies, "Practicing my night vision."

I threw a pillow at him and called him a goober. And later, as we were eating dinner, he smiles real big and says that's a story for the blog isn't it. Er-yes, yes it is.

Here is why it is funny to me, have you ever seen or played the game Splinter Cell? Well this spy goes through a series of events to gain intelligence and crouches behind things and uses his night vision to accomplish these missions. The crouch that I saw Jeff doing was the Sam Fisher pose. I thought it was funny and one of the reasons I love my husband, you just never know what he is going to do.

Later that night, I started to scrapbook at our kitchen table. I was supposed to go scrapbook with a few of my friends but since I had fever decided it would be wise to stay home. Anyway, the point...I was sitting on one end of our table cropping away-Jeff was on the other end of the table cleaning his gun. I wish I would have snapped a picture for the blog but I was enjoying the moment too much to stop what I was doing.

P,S To my fellow Scrapbook buddies, did you know that Scrapbook Pad is now closed! Yes! That's right...CLOSED! No more Recollections, no more Scrapbook Pad.

Too Tired For a Title

I have made it my goal on this blog to remain true to myself, to laugh when I need to laugh, cry when I need to cry but most importantly to glorify God however the shoe fits.

Last night I spent most of the night, on my knees praying for the LORD to reveal Himself to me. My struggles are not for me, I pray for many. I wrestle with the realization that God has chosen little ole me to intercede on behalf of others through prayer. I realize, with total humility that this job could be given to anyone, that God doesn't need me, but He wants me to serve unselfishly through praying for others. The truth is, I relish the quiet mornings alone in prayer. I savor the time where it is just God and me, alone, praying for whatever God brings to me in these moments. I also enjoy looking back, at the journal pages, realizing how sweet and tender the wee small hours have been for my faith in God.

But I am human and today I realized my humanity when I grumbled to my husband about being worn out from last nights prayer vigil. At one point last night, I even asked the LORD, "Why me LORD? When they don't even seem to be burdened?" And later, at church, God gave me a wonderful gift. A sweet friend at church stopped me and told me that she has been praying for me without ceasing this week. I could do nothing but hug her and say thank you, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. So as Jeff and I drove home, skipping potluck, skipping small group in order for me to rest, I praised God. While drive under a beautiful blue sky, with the perfect amount of clouds peppered here and there I realized how blessed I was that God woke me up, brought me out of my bed, to pray for those in need. The beauty the Holy Spirit is this: as I pray for these, God sends others to pray for me...isn't that what Christian community is all about.

Thank you LORD for the gift of prayer. Thank you for all that you have done and all that you are going to do through our prayers. Your love, O LORD, amazes me.

God bless you guys, and thank you for letting me share my thoughts today. This is one of those posts that falls under the title, "Getting my words out."

Random Thoughts On A Friday

1) American Idol's results were just plain cruel last night, poor Michael!

2) I started a Pilate's workout this week, OH MY GOSH! I am sore.

3) Right now, I am fighting a cold-I have the deep, sexy voice that Phoebe wanted back on a Friends episode. Am I the only one that still relates present day situations to a Friend's episode?

4) I burned my bacon this morning, it smells horrible in my apartment/home office.
I lite a candle, hoping it will go away.

5) I read a book all in one day yesterday. To quote Randy Jackson, "It was awe-right!"

6) I slept through the big storm up the street from me this week. The weatherman said that a tornado dropped down in that area, I slept right through it. Jeff said, "Thank God it didn't touch down here or I would have been flying in my bed like Dorothy." Seriously, didn't hear anything-slept like a baby.

7) I have been having a bunch of random dreams lately. Last night I dreamt that Baby Tate and I were playing chase at church. Wade and Kelly, maybe the dream is to give you all a bit of hope? Oh and Tate loves running and playing with me. :)

8) I also had a dream that a really good friend of mine was hooked on drugs. This girl would never do drugs but with the stress of having two kids she started to use drugs. I have since tried calling that friend to make sure she is alright (or as Randy would say "Awe-right!") Too bad she isn't a blogger friend or I would have linked to her too. :)

9) My mom sent this picture to me today of Elijah, he got caught taking candy from the stash at the church office. I love the look on his face, PRICELESS!

Book Review: Straight Up by Lisa Samson

I just finished another one of Lisa Samson's books called "Straight Up." My favorite line in the whole book was the ending sentence, "It's a wonderful thing when you start to live."
I can relate to that line, it sums up my life at this present moment quite nicely.

Ladies, if you have never tried one of her books then you are missing out!

What I like about her writing style is she is very poetic. She does not tell the complete story of each character but it flows in such a way that you truly get all the backstory without feeling like you are missing a huge amount of detail.

If you are looking for a book that is Christian based without being too fluffy, then try Lisa Samson. I am even listing them for you so that you can check them out yourselves. My all-time favorite book is Songbird. Go figure! For those of you who like to sing, you may enjoy this one too.

Oh Lord, here we go again!

Remember last week when I talked to you all about my Monday night television line up?

Well, let me just say that God has convicted me of that line up. And I want to say this before I tell you what has happened, this is a personal conviction for me. I am not trying to change you or make you feel bad for watching it but I just felt that I needed to explain what God has done this week to my heart. Especially after writing my post last week about the Monday television line up.

Last week, Jeff worked days (he usually works nights for those of you who may not know). Since he was home at night, he sat down to watch a few of the shows that I have on my weekly line up. The one that made him mad was The Bachelor.

Susan, you really watch this stuff?
Yes.
Why?!?
What good does it do for you?

I had no answer. I turned if off but later went and watched it online at abc.com, the frugal person's DVR. During the week the Lord was gnawing at my spirit. You know how it is, you know you shouldn't do such things, but you do it anyway, because it is cheap entertainment, then later you feel guilty, like you just wasted a few brain cells watching girls chase after a man. Pathetic! If you really think about it.

So last night, I tuned into The Bachelor. Jeff was at work, I had no one but myself to hold me accountable. And I will admit I watched the whole show without hesitation. I really didn't feel bad for it until this morning when I started my quiet time. I was even going to blog about how I couldn't believe he let Holly go! But back to my quiet time...

Philippians 4:8-9 is the verse that originally convicted me of what shows I allow myself to watch. I was very good at this a few months ago and God used that time to really draw me closer to Him. But I started to watch these shows again, one-by-one, because I felt left out of the conversations my friends were having. I didn't want to admit to others that I didn't watch these shows because I didn't want to sound like a religious freak. Seriously, this was my thinking. How dumb of me?!? And this is where one of my parents would gently ask, "If all your friends jumped off a cliff would you do it?" And I would have to answer, "Sure why not, I always wanted to jump off a cliff."

Just kidding. And then I realized that I am not the only one feeling this way. Thank you Julie for reiterating what the Lord was already saying to me this morning.

So I am going to spend this week, examining my shows based on Philippians 4:8-9.

And I am pretty sure that my Monday line up is going to not be the same when I am through.

And just because I am curious, not becasue I am wanting to start a televison watching revival.

If you had to what television show would you give up? If any?

OH PRAISE HIM!

The other day I was sitting in the doctor's office waiting for the nurse to come in to administer another test. I had a few minutes to reflect on my journey and wonder why God chose us to go through this process. I wasn't feeling sorry for myself but I was just wondering why God picked us. And that is when it hit me, God is taking me on this journey because I am willing to share it with others. I am willing to tell people of the ups and downs because I want to show God's faithfulness, provision and leading for us. I also want to praise God for all that He is teaching me.

The morning of the doctor's appointment I woke up feeling very apprehensive. This test was to determine if I would need surgery again. I have had surgery before and I think I was working myself up into a fit because I know how it works and the pain that comes afterwards.

In my quiet time, I did the usual reading of the Daily Chronological Bible, writing out my thoughts in my journal and then I sat for a bit and just enjoyed listening to the birds outside. (I love spring!) And then I read this verse by chance.

"I am confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD." Psalms 27: 13-14

Friends, do you understand what this verse is telling me! I am confident that God will answer our prayers for children. God knows the perfect timing for all of this to happen and so I wait for the LORD. But I wait with peace that passes all understanding and a joy that radiates from within.

The good news came that day too, there is nothing wrong with our bodies!!! Everything is working in the baby making department, there is no need for surgery at this time and now we can sit back, relax and wait for the LORD.

I believe God is teaching us to wait. I believe that God is teaching us to wait with joy and not sadness. I believe that one day we will raise the roof with praise but for now, I raise the roof with praise knowing that one day I will be able to raise the roof with a positive pregnancy test in hand.

So I choose joy! I choose praise! I choose to live one day at a time with total confidence in the LORD. And if you don't believe me, well the fact that I can write this, on the day that we start another cycle, without tears, without sadness should be proof to all of you that God is doing a mighty work in me.

God is good, His timing is perfect and He has a plan for me!

Thank you LORD for proving to Jeff and I this past month that there is nothing holding us back from having children physically and that your are alive and active in our lives.

Oh Praise Him!

Breaking Bad Habits

I am not one to drink my daily amount of water. And ever since I started the WW I have been keeping track of my water intake each day. WW online provides a feature where you can click a little glass of water for each glass you drink.

Can I say that I have completed all 8 glasses of water only a handful of times?

Folks, this is a tad bit pathetic! PATH-E-TIC!!!!

But have no fear I have come up with a solution to help me solve this problem.

1) I pulled out my plastic pitcher that shows the total ounces on the side.
2) Filled up the pitcher to the 64 oz point.
3) Purchased a bundle of fresh lemons to make my water just right.
4) At the start of each day, I cut up two lemons (4 wedges per lemon) so that I can have a slice of lemon for each glass. (I know I know obsessive compulsive!)
5) I challenge myself to drink the full 64 oz. before 8 p.m.

And since I am drinking more water, I have decided to cut out the sodas. Umm...it's day two of no soda and let's just say I miss my DP.

I am also curious to see how many pounds will come off now that I am not drinking soda.

I will let you know in a week or two.

Wish me luck! I just may need it since I have a killer headache from no DP!

My Guilty Pleasure

I love Monday night television.

Unfortunately (I mean yeah hubby is home) Jeff is working days this week and was watching Monday night television with me. He loves to give his opinion at the most intense time. DWTS, he would not shut up and during the London B, he got banned to the bedroom so I could finish the show in peace. Then I felt guilty, turned off the television and went back to spend time with my husband.

Have no fear, I just watched the last 5 minutes of London B since he is now at work.

But I have a few opinions about these two shows:

#1 Is it just me or is the WOW factor not there this year in DWTS. I have a few favorites but last night I was watching it wondering where the amazing stuff has gone. I actually voted online last night and gave all my votes to Adam simply because I love Julianne. But I wish she was paired again with someone a bit more her speed, if you know what I mean. Adam though has greatly improved from the first round...thank you Julianne.

#2 Moving on to London B.... does anyone think Shayne is trying to get a career in acting or is it just me? I don't know why he gave her the rose. And he couldn't have described her any better when he said, "She was one sandwich short of a picnic." Amen Matt! Amen!

#3 And why do all these girls talk about marriage? You know when the show ends you will break up and be done with each other. Probably even before the last show airs, but since you are under contract, will play it up for a few months with the press and what not. After a few months pass, you will release a statement saying, "It just didn't work out."

Unless you are Ryan and Trista who seem pretty down to earth and made for each other. And speaking of R & T, she was on the Ellen show the other day and was talking about there struggle to get pregnant. She said, "You just have to relax and wait for God's timing." And I was so proud of her but then she quickly added "Or whoever you believe in." And I screamed at the television, Trista! You just let a good opportunity pass you by!"

Okay, now I am off to finish my long list of projects for work. It seems like it will never end! Oh well, today is pajama day so I am going to work hard while relaxing in the pj's. And reward myself with watching last nights episode of The Hills, which I missed because I was hanging with hubs. There is NO WAY I would watch that show with him, the commentary that comes from that boy, during that show would drive even the calmest person crazy!

Beauty From the Storm

I woke up this morning with a piece of my fingernail in my mouth. At some point in the night, I had a dream that I was trimming my fingernails. I guess I used my teeth to do so which explains the reason there was a fingernail bit in my mouth. At this point, I was a bit confused, not sure what was between my teeth. When I realized what it was, to my utter dismay, I spit it out and tried to fall back to sleep.

Sleep did not come.

I got out of bed and did my lesson for the small group study at church.

When that was done, I still had this you need to do something feeling gnawing away.

I started to organize my lyrics for this weeks music at church. I was missing a song or two.

I usually do not turn on the computer until after 9 in the morning. It is a little rule I have established for myself to keep my life a little more balanced. I typically never turn on the computer on a Sunday because I enjoy having one day completely computer free. Most Saturday nights I spend getting my stuff ready before I go to bed. Last night, I was enjoying a little NCAA basketball.

But I needed my music so when I finished, I found myself surfing blogs to see if this would help me fall asleep.

And then came Boo Mama's post from today.

I can not describe the emotions that came when I saw the picture. Peace, awe, total awareness that God is making EVERYTHING beautiful in His own time for my life. Isn't that a beautiful picture of God's beauty that comes after a storm?

I realize that I am not the only one in a difficult season. Truth is, I don't think difficult is the right word to describe this journey for Jeff and my life, I think it is better than difficult. I think it is fundamental for our journey ahead to walk this road. This time is teaching us and molding us in ways we could never even imagine. And so I choose to walk this season with praise, utter dependence on God every step of the way, knowing that God does have a plan for every part of our life.

But the outcome of this season can be illustrated in the picture on Boo Mama's blog.

I believe after the storms have passed we too will have a beautiful picture to show for this journey, a blossom so to speak.

That my friends is worth the wait, isn't it?

Putting Myself in Time Out

(The picture has nothing to do with this post, it's just a picture of what I wish I was doing)

Is it just me or has this week been nuts?

I was talking to one of my co-workers this week and he said he was ready to hit the eject button on this week because it has been nuts. I couldn't agree more.

This time of year is very busy for me in the furniture business. I guess it is because everyone is getting income tax checks and buying more furniture. But the extra does of busyness leaves me not being able to catch up on all the other things on my to-do list.

And it's not like I am trying to complain about my life. I realize I am blessed and enjoy what I do. And I praise God for all that He has given me. But then there are weeks like this were I just can't wait for it to end.
So this weekend, I am going to take a time out. To unwind. To catch up on all my work and to file all the catalog pages that are piled up on my living room floor. (Yes Jodi, I am going to my happy place)

And on Saturday I am going to breakfast with my husband and my favorite 6 year old then hitting the store of her choice for a bit of birthday shopping.
(Missy we will come by at 9:30-I will email you too. LOL!)

The plan is to R-E-L-A-X!

So have a great weekend, enjoy the nice weather and take a moment to chill with the rest of us.

Ladies! Do You Want to Laugh?!?!?

My friend send this to me tonight and I died laughing (no not literally-DUH!)

If you are a lady you can soooo relate.

Thanks Marie for the blog material. It's been one of those weeks and my brain is not functioning on all 4 cylinders. (And don't you say, "When does it ever?")

THE WASHCLOTH

I was due for an appointment with the gynecologist later in the week.

Early one morning, I received a call from the doctor's office to Tell me that I had been rescheduled for that morning at 9:30 am. I had just packed everyone off to work and school, and it was already around 8:45am. The trip to his office took about 35 minutes, so I didn't have any time to spare.

As most women do, I like to take a little extra effort over Hygiene when making such visits, but this time I wasn't going to be able to make the full effort. So, I rushed upstairs, threw off my pajamas, wet the washcloth that was sitting next to the sink, and gave myself a quick wash in that area to make sure I was at least presentable. I threw the washcloth in the clothes basket, donned some clothes, hopped in the car and raced to my appointment.

I was in the waiting room for only a few minutes when I was Called in. Knowing the procedure, as I'm sure you do, I hopped up on the table, looked over at the other side of the room and pretended that I was in Paris or some other place a million miles away.

I was a little surprised when the doctor said, "My, we have made an extra effort this morning, haven't we?" I didn't respond.

After the appointment, I heaved a sigh of relief and went home.
The rest of the day was normal . Some shopping, cleaning, cooking.

After school when my 6 year old daughter was playing, she called out from the bathroom, "Mommy, where's my washcloth?" I told her to get another one from the cupboard.
She replied, "No, I need the one that was here by the sink, it had all my glitter and sparkles saved inside it."

Never going back to that doctor ever.

(Side Note from Susan: This is a forward not something that happened to me or my friend.)
